Last Thursday's Freeform gig at Kulcha in Fremantle was a most excellent musical adventure. A melting pot of cultures, instruments and like-minded musicians came together and created some magical moments in improvisation that were a pleasure to experience. Present were the ood, koto, erhu, various hand drums, wind instruments and the more conventional piano, guitar, acoustic bass, saxophones and dj turntables. It was fantastic to hear different musicians and instruments put together with no planning and hear them create brilliant soundscapes and feelings by instinct. Freeform is held once every two months so keep an eye out for the Kulcha calendar in the local music press and this site. Tags: Freeform Kulcha Fremantle Improvisation World Music
